By the time it was sunny again, the 8th, and Mugi returned, my horse was now at 4 hearts, and he let me keep him!

I loaded the previous day again, got another snowstorm, and then another Mugi-free snowy day. Went to bed, but this time when I woke up, it was a snowstorm! When I woke up on Day 5, it was snowing, and Mugi did not appear! My horse was fully grown, however! The next 2 days, which snowed, I brushed the horse (the only way you can increase points once its an adult), but the next sunny day, Mugi returned and took him away.

I reloaded my previous save, the evening of Day 3. On time, Mugi appeared and took my horse away again. I only had 1 pet treat, because I did not think to buy a whole bunch from the pet guy last month (but if you can, I definitely recommend going back to do that). I made sure to talk to and brush my horse each day. What I did do was go back to my earliest save game (I just happened to make multiple saves in the diary), which for me was Winter 1. And that's a whole year with no horse! Unacceptable! Restarting the game also wasn't an option for me. I was devastated - this has never happened to me in a Harvest Moon game before! I didn't even realise it was even a possibility! Googling the problem showed that you could get a second chance to get the horse the next year, but presumably a year later, so winter again. So initially Mugi came on Day 4 of Winter for me, to take my dear horse away. Mine was on 3 hearts, and must have been close to four, but was just under the threshold. This will not work if you've totally neglected your horse. OKAY so I discovered a glitch/hack/trick to stop Mugi from taking your horse away if you haven't gotten it to 4 hearts before the Winter deadline.
